Tornado sweep a pair of meets at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – The King University women's swimming team returned to the pool on Friday and earned a pair of victories at Milligan College. The Tornado defeated the host Buffaloes 100-77 along with topping St. Andrews University 105.5-36.5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The 200 meter freestyle relay team of Samantha Vargo, Nicola Mead, Jess Vargo and Nicole Maldonado won the event with a time of 1:54.78.
  • In the 200 meter individual medley, King took the top two spots with Macarena Martin Mayor winning the event a time of 2:39.92. Jess Vargo followed with a time of 2:40.73.
  • Maldonado took first in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 27.61 seconds and Koai Martin finished sixth at 32.31 seconds.
  • Martin Mayor also won the 400 meter freestyle with a time of 5:08.52.
  • In the 100 meter freestyle, Maldonado finished first in a time of 1:01.95 and Annie Ly took second, coming in with a time of 1:08.16.
  • Samantha Vargo finished the 100 meter backstroke in a time of 1:12.94 to take third.
  • Winning the 100 meter breaststroke was Jess Vargo with a time of 1:23.98. Martin finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:39.28.
  • Another 1-2 finish for the Tornado came in the 100 meter butterfly with Mead finishing in a time of 1:06.24 to take first place. Ly was next with a time of 1:10.84.
  • Martin finished third in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 2:43.81.
  • The 200 meter medley relay team of Samantha Vargo, Martin Mayor, Ly and Mead finished first with a time of 2:11.84.
