King Swimming & Diving Opens Weekend at Conference Invite

The King men's and women's swimming & diving team participated in Friday afternoon's Conference Carolinas invitational, hosted by Converse College.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King men's and women's swimming & diving teams traveled to Spartanburg, S.C. where Converse College hosted the 2012 Conference Carolinas Invitational. The men finished fifth overall while the women's team finished fourth.

King's best performances came on the women's side where Rachel Fuller and Kelsey Wiese each put together a strong show in their respective individual events.

Fuller, a freshman from North Augusta, N.C., finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.42.

Wiese, a junior from Gallatin, Tenn., tied for fourth overall in the 50 free when she touched the wall at the same time as Limestone's Brianne Jones at 25.50.

The Lady Tornado scored a total of 141.5 points to finish fifth of five teams. Queens (N.C.) won the women's side with a total score of 629.

The men's team finished fourth of four teams, scoring 192 points. Queens (N.C.) also won the meet on the men's side, putting up 764 points.

The Tornado are getting right back in the pull on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the pool at Tennessee High School (Bristol, Tenn.). They will host Mars Hill and Milligan College in a double dual.
