Berry, Milligan and King Compete in Tri-Meet

 

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King College Swimming and Diving took to the pool at Milligan College to take on the Buffaloes and Vikings of Berry College. The Tornado fell to Milligan (109.00-54.00) and Berry (115.00-56.00) by both combined and team scores.

The men's team made their splash by winning the 400-meter freestyle relay race. The combination of William Edmonds, Jacob Morales, Alek Nochowicz, and Gary Oliver logged in a time of 3:53.99 to knock off the nearest competitor by nearly five seconds for the win. Oliver swam the fastest leg at 55.82 with three of the four clocking in their leg under one minute.

Oliver, a Bristol, Tenn. native, took second place in the 100-meter freestyle race with a time of 56.20. Alek Nochowicz (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) and Greg Taylor (Bristol, Tenn.) both took third in their respective events. Nochowicz put up a 1:07.58 time in the 100-meter backstroke while Gregory finished 1:16.39 in the 100-meter breaststroke.

On the women's side, Kelsey Copeland (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) took second in 50-meter freestyle (30.78) and third in the 100-meter freestyle (1:18.02). Shirley Langford (Cape Coral, Fla.) was less than a second from winning the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:27.35.

King will return to the pool against Union College (Bourbonville, Ky.) on Saturday, Feb. 4 before the beginning of the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships begin on Feb. 16.
