Tornado Compete in Double Dual at Tennessee High

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King Men's and Women's Swimming took to the lanes at Tennessee High School (Bristol, Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon for a double dual meet with Milligan College and University of the Cumberlands.

Malorie McBride (Nashville, Tenn.) had a successful day with one event victory and a second place finish on the day. She earned a demonstrative win in the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.55), winning the event by more than six seconds. Earlier in the day, McBride earned a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.35).

King went finished one-two in the women's 200-yard free. Jade Schroeder (Alexander City, Ala.) finished ahead of McBride with a 2:11.86 final time. Kelsey Copeland (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) was narrowly edged out in the 50-yard freestyle (27.60) by Katryn McKinney of Milligan by 0.22 seconds.

Wayne Oliver (Bristol, Tenn.) returned to his stomping grounds from his high school days and led the men's team with victories in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. The short-distance specialist beat out Tjard Neumann (Milligan) by a touch, finishing just 0.05 seconds in front with a final time of 22.53. The senior also earned a victory in the 100-yard fly over University of the Cumberlands Sam Hoeferle by less than a quarter of a second (55.35).

In a pair of relays for the 400-yard freestyle event, both King teams placed second in the event. The men finished with a time of 3:29.52 while the women ended with a 4:15.09 time.

Scores are cumulated as all three teams competed against one another simultaneously and then assessed in dual format. King combined to go 1-3 between both the men's and women's teams with the Lady Tornado pulling out the lone victory. Milligan swept both Tornado teams in a rematch from their Oct. 4 meeting in which Milligan took both wins.
