Garrett selected TSWA Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time this season, Kara Garrett of the King University women's soccer team was selected Tennessee Sports Writer's Association Player of the Week. Garrett scored a pair of goals to lead King to a victory over Barton College on the final day of the regular season.

The Abingdon, Va., native netted both of her goals in a 3-1 victory over Barton on Saturday. She started with the equalizer in the 64th minute on a header off a corner kick from Paula Doran. Garrett then added an insurance goal for the Tornado in the 83rd minute with a shot from the right to the far post, giving King the 3-1 victory.

Garrett and the rest of the Tornado are in action on Tuesday afternoon in the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals. King is the seventh seed and takes on second seed Belmont Abbey College. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m.
