Trio of second half scores too much for Lady Tornado

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The King College women's soccer team was overtaken by three second half goals Saturday in a 3-0 setback against Tennessee Wesleyan College in the home opener for the Lady Tornado.

King went to 0-2 on the season while Tennessee Wesleyan has a 2-1 record. The Lady Tornado will take a trip to Anderson (S.C.) University on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. contest.

After a scoreless first half, Helen Collins scored at the 49:20 with an assist from Kelly Crew to put the visitors in front. Daelyn Swafford added an unassisted score two minutes later and Britten Fandrich tacked on an insurance run with 33 minutes to go. Courtney Strickland was credited with the assist on the final score.

King was able to attempt five shots, but Tennessee Wesleyan had 19 with only seven in half.

Abbey Kitts (Tazewell, Va.) notched eight saves in the contest for the Lady Tornado. Chealsey Baxter only had to stop one shot on goal for the visitors.
