King unable to score in 5th place game at NCCAA

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - King College lost a 3-0 contest to Dallas Baptist (Texas) University Saturday in the fifth-place game of the 2010 NCCAA Division I Women's Soccer National Tournament.

King's 2010 season comes to an end at 8-14 with sixth place at the NCCAA Nationals as the No. 8 seed. Dallas Baptist, the No. 7 seed, went to 12-11-1.

Hope Adams scored Dallas Baptist's first and second goals. Her first score was an unassisted goal that deflected into the net at the 12:50 mark. She struck again in the 60th minute on a through ball from Ashleigh Elkins for a one timer.

Allyson Bales added an unassisted goal on a free kick in the 73rd minute.

Abbey Kitts (Tazewell, Va.) had eight saves in goal for King. Her counterparts, Haley Corbell and Ashley Saunders had four saves. Corbell played 73:17 with the rest of the match going to Saunders.

The Lady Tornado had 13 shots, but four on goal. Dallas Baptist attempted 19 shots in all.

King had not been shutout in five matches leading up to Saturday's meeting with 10 goals in the stretch.
