King taken down at No. 17 Belmont Abbey, 2-0

BELMONT, N.C. - King College was unable to overcome a goal in each half at No. 17 Belmont Abbey (N.C.) College Saturday as the Lady Tornado were defeated 2-0 in women's soccer play.

After the contest King went to 4-11 while Belmont Abbey has a 14-1-1 record. For Belmont Abbey it was the 12th time the squad posted a shutout in 2010. It was the first time King had been held scoreless in the last five matches. The Lady Tornado had scored eight goals in the previous four contests before Saturday.

The first goal for Belmont Abbey came from Emily Archer at the 7:42 mark. She had a breakaway shot from 10 yards out after a pass from Kristin Foster. Nicole Voets scored in the 49th minute on a free kick from 20 yards out.

King's Abbey Kitts (Tazewell, Va.) had nine saves in 11 shots from Belmont Abbey. On the other side Anna Donaldson had four saves.

Overall Belmont Abbey attempted 18 shots with six by King.

King closes out the regular season on Nov. 6 at North Greenville (S.C.) University. The two future Conference Carolinas foes will play at 4 p.m. Both King and North Greenville will be a part of Conference Carolinas starting with the 2011 season. Belmont Abbey currently has an 8-0 record in Conference Carolinas.
