BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College head men's wrestling coach Nate Moorman has announced the 2010-11 schedule for the Tornado squad that starts on Nov. 7.
King will storm into the Hokie Open Nov. 7 in Salem, Va. The next week, Nov. 14, the Tornado hosts the King Open at Viking Hall.
Next on the schedule will be the Kauffman/Brand Open in Omaha, Neb., on Nov. 20. The Penn State Open is scheduled for Dec. 5. On Dec. 7 Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College visits Bristol. A short layoff comes before the Midwest Classic Dec. 18 and 19 in Indianapolis, Ind., which closes out the 2010 portion of the schedule.
The Virginia Duals, in Hampton, Va., on Jan. 7 and 8 starts the new year for the Tornado squad. The first dual match of the season is scheduled for Jan. 17 at Limestone (S.C.) College.
King will be at the East Coast Duals in Pembroke, N.C., Jan. 21 and 22. The Tornado will battle St. Andrews Presbyterian (N.C.) College, West Liberty State (W.Va.) University, University of Pittsburg at Johnstown and Shippensburg (Pa.) University at the event.
The first dual home dual match of the season will be Jan. 26 against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College at 7 p.m. The Tornado travels to West Virginia Tech on Feb. 1 before closing out the home portion of the schedule with Belmont Abbey (N.C.) College Feb. 9.
King makes a weekend out of a trip to Newberry (S.C.) College. On Friday, Feb. 11, King and Newberry face off in a dual match. The Tornado will then be a part of the Newberry Open the next day.
The NCAA Division II Super Region Tournament will be Feb. 26 in Findlay, Ohio. The Top-4 finishers in each weight class will earn bids to the NCAA Division II National Tournament March 11 and 12 in Kearney, Neb.
This is the first season for King to compete as a NCAA Division II member under the direction of fifth-year head coach Nate Moorman.
