BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College has five wrestlers in their respective weight classes in the newest NCAA Division II Super Region II Rankings, announced by the organization.
Dondricus Anderson (Macon, Ga.) was put at No. 2 in the 285-pound rankings. The newcomer to King has posted an 11-6 record. So far this season he has gone 5-6 against NCAA Division I wrestlers and he finished fifth at the Penn State Open last weekend. Thanks to his impressive start, Anderson moved up from his No. 6 preseason ranking in October.
Brandon Tressler (Orlando, Fla.) has a 4-5 record, good enough for third among 184-pound wrestlers in the region. He has wins over wrestlers from Ohio, Gardner-Webb and Nebraska Omaha. Tressler improved a spot from the preseason report.
Frank Morgan (Maynardville, Tenn.) also has third, but in the 197-pound rankings. Both of his losses this season were against NCAA Division I foes. He was No. 2 in the preseason rankings from October.
Cullen King (Memphis, Tenn.) rounded out the Top-6 125-pound wrestlers. The freshman's record at the moment stands at 8-6.
Phil Ramirez (Virginia Beach, Va.) has the No. 6 spot among 157-pound wrestlers with a season record of 2-4. He slipped from a No. 4 preseason ranking.
The Tornado squad was jumped in the team standings by Belmont-Abbey (N.C.) College as King was sent from No. 6 down to No. 7.
King closes out the calendar year with the highly competitive Midwest Classic Dec. 18-19 in Indianapolis, Ind. Before Tuesday's dual, King wrestled in four open events.
