King given No. 4 seed for 31st Virginia Duals
BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College will enter the 31st Annual Virginia Duals American College Division as the No. 4 seed for the two-day event that starts Friday.
King will wrestle New York University first at 9 a.m. Friday. The Tornado and the NCAA Division III school are a part of the opening round of four matches. The victor advances to wrestle the winner between top-seed SUNY Brockport and St. Andrews Presbyterian Saturday at 2 p.m. SUNY Brockport enters the event ranked No. 12 in the NCWA National poll. The two first-round losers face off at 1 p.m. Friday.
The other side of the bracket features No. 2 seed Nassau (N.Y.) Community College against Johns Hopkins and No. 3 seed York (Pa.) College wrestling Apprentice (Va.) School.
The championship match of the bracket has an 8:30 p.m. scheduled start Saturday.
King has only wrestled once in a dual match this season, a 36-6 decision over Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College on Dec. 7. Before 2010 ended the Tornado participated in five tournaments with the last being the Midwest Classic on Dec. 18-19. The Tornado squad was placed at No. 6 in the newest NCAA Division II Super Region II Coaches' Ranking, announced earlier in the week.
New York comes in with a 1-4 dual match record after losing to Johns Hopkins Wednesday by a score of 40-3.
All the wrestling will take place in the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.
