Taylor, Thorpe earn Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors
BRISTOL, Tenn. –For the first time in her career, Samantha Taylor has earned Conference Carolinas Women’s Golfer of the Month honors. In King University’s final tournament of the fall, the redshirt freshman led the Tornado to an 11th place finish at the very competitive Saint Leo Invitational. Women’s soccer player Rachel Thorpe was also honored by the conference, earning her second play of the week honor this season.

Tornado close fall by taking 11th at Saint Leo Invite
DADE CITY, Fla. – The King University women’s golf team closed their fall schedule with a solid performance against some of the best competition in the country. King finished the Saint Leo Invitational in 11th against a field that featured seven top-25, and three top-10 teams in the GolfStat rankings. The Tornado carded a 325 in the second round to finish with a tournament total of 645 to finish ahead of two fellow Conference Carolinas schools at the tournament.

DADE CITY, Fla. – The King University women’s golf team kicked off their final tournament of the fall with a solid team score of 320 at the Saint Leo University Invitational. After the first of two rounds, King is in 11th place in a tournament that includes seven ranked teams, including three in the top-10.

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Following their win last week, the King University women’s golf team returned to the course on Monday at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate where the Tornado shot 314 in the first round. King is in sixth place of 20 teams and was led by Samantha Taylor in the first round.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time in program history, the King University women’s golf team was victorious in a two-day tournament. The Tornado won the King University Invitational by 22 strokes with a tournament total of 621 after shooting 316 on the second day. Elizabeth Swallow led four Tornado golfers in the top-10 with a second place finish.

King takes eighth in season opening tournament
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Coming off one of their best rounds in recent years, the King University women’s golf team tried to duplicate that performance in the second round of the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate at Sevierville Golf Club. The Tornado nearly matched their round of 316, shooting 320 in the second round for a total of 636 and an eight place finish at the season opening event.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Earlier this month, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced their All-American Scholars for the 2013-14 season, and two King University student-athletes were honored. Elizabeth Swallow and Anna Walker both earned the distinction for the second consecutive year.

Swallow finishes 24th at NCAA South Regional
DADE CITY, Fla. – The season may have come to an end, but Elizabeth Swallow capped a magnificent sophomore campaign with a 24th place finish at the NCAA South Regional Championship. Swallow, who is the first women’s golfer to qualify for an NCAA South Regional, ended the three round tournament with a score of 231 after carding a 78 in the final round on Tuesday.

DADE CITY, Fla. – Elizabeth Swallow made King University history on Sunday as she became the first Tornado women’s golfer to appear in the NCAA South Regional Championship. Swallow got off to a slow start in the first round of the three round event, but bounced back over the final nine holes to come away with an 80 in the opening round.

Swallow earns an individual place in NCAA South Regional
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University women’s golfer Elizabeth Swallow has had an incredible sophomore campaign, which will continue for at least one more week. On Monday, the NCAA announced its field of the upcoming NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, and Swallow earned one of four individual spots in the South Region. With the selection, she becomes the first King women’s golfer to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament since the school became NCAA members in 2010-11.

As a team King finished seventh of 18 teams with a team score of 664.

Three Tornado named WCGA All-Academic Scholars
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Earlier this month, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WCGA) announced their All-American Scholars for the 2012-13 school year. Of the 644 student-athletes named to the list, which encompasses NCAA Divisions I-III and the NAIA, three King University women’s golfers earned the distinction. Esther Gandarias, Elizabeth Swallow and Anna Walker all earned All-American Scholar status by the WCGA.
