King leads Converse Invite after opening round

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's golf team opened the spring season with a solid round at the Converse Spring Invitational by Founders FCU. The Tornado shot 315 and are in first place of 19 teams after being led by Daphne Chang.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Chang started out the spring season with a round of three-over 75, landing her in second place, two strokes behind the leader.
  • Samantha Taylor came in next, shooting 79 in the opening round.
  • Not far behind were Fiona Hebbel and Emilie Olstad who carded 80 and 81, respectively.
  • Nicola Robertson rounded out the squad with a score of 83 in the first round.
  • Playing as an individual, Autumn Bergendahl shot 94 on Monday.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Tornado lead the tournament by one stroke over Lincoln Memorial who shot 316 in the first round.
  • Marley Felthousen of Converse College is atop the individual leaderboard with a first round score of one-over 73.
