King takes 10th at Pinehurst Challenge
PINEHURST, N.C. – In what were very tough conditions on a difficult golf course, the King University women's golf team turned in a 10th place finish of 18 teams at the Wingate University Pinehurst Challenge. The Tornado shot 357 in the final round for a tournament total of 703. Elizabeth Swallow led the Tornado with a seventh place finish.
Swallowed bettered her first round score of 81 with a final round score of 80 to finish with a stroke total of 161, only seven shots behind the tournament's winner. Anna Walker followed Swallow with her second best finish of the season, placing 22nd. Walker carded an 84 in the first round, and followed it with an 87 to finish with a total of 171.
Cortnee Young was next at 184 after her final round score of 95, and Kerby Jones followed after shooting 95 in the final round for a total of 187. Karissa King rounded out the squad with a total of 211.
Armstrong Atlantic University won the tournament with a two-day total of 638 with Lee University taking second place at 665. Armstrong Atlantic had the top-2 finishers as they shot 154 and 156, respectively.
King will be in action again on April 7-8 at the Agnes McAmis Memorial hosted by Tusculum College.
