Young leads Tornado in Tusculum Fall Classic first round

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The King University women's golf team opened their season on Monday at the Tusculum College Fall Classic. The Tornado were led by Cortnee Young's round of 75, and are in fifth place with a team score of 319 after the first round.

Young carded a 75 on the par 72 course to pace the Tornado. She followed her 39 on the front nine with an even-par 36 on the back nine. Elizabeth Swallow wasn't far behind as she picked up right where she left off a season ago, shooting a 76. After one round, Young is in fourth place while Swallow is in sixth.

Anna Walker posted a 78 in her first round of the season, and is in 14th place after the first round. Karissa King rounded out King's squad by shooting a 90.

The Tornado are currently in fifth place after the first of two rounds with a stroke total of 319. UNC Pembroke leads the tournament with a score of 301 while Converse College is in second with a score of 307. Lincoln Memorial University and the University of West Alabama are just ahead of the Tornado with scores of 310 and 314, respectively.

The second and final round of the Tusculum Fall Classic takes place tomorrow at Link Hills Country Club.
