Swallow places second at Wingate Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST- N.C. –In their third tournament of the spring, the King University women's golf team placed ninth of 16 teams at the Wingate Pinehurst Challenge. Elizabeth Swallow led the Tornado with a second place finish after shooting a 72 on the final day.

Swallow combined her even-par 72 in the final round with a 78 in the first round for a total of 150. She finished just one stroke out of first place. Esther Gandarias came in next for the Tornado with a total score of 171 after a second round 84. Courtnee Young was consistent over the two-day event, posting a pair of 86's to finish with a 172.

Anna Walker and Kerby Jones rounded out King's team with scores of 178 and 190, respectively.

Wingate University finished won the team title with a tournament score of 634 while Armstrong Atlantic finished second at 640 and UNC-Pembroke placed third at 641. UNC-Pembroke's Meghan Moore earned individualist honors with a score of 149.

The Tornado will be back in action on April 8-9 when the play in the Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational hosted by Tusculum College.
