  • Three Tornado named WCGA All-Academic Scholars

    Three Tornado named WCGA All-Academic Scholars BRISTOL, Tenn. – Earlier this month, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WCGA) announced their All-American Scholars for the 2012-13 school year. Of the 644 student-athletes named to the list, which encompasses NCAA Divisions I-III and the NAIA, three King University women’s golfers earned the distinction. Esther Gandarias, Elizabeth Swallow and Anna Walker all earned All-American Scholar status by the WCGA.

    King finishes second at Conference Carolinas Championships GRAHAM, N.C. – In the first year of the new Conference Carolinas golf tournament format, the King University women’s golf team qualified for the final round match play. The Tornado defeated North Greenville University, but fell to Queens University and tied Mount Olive College to finish in second place.

    Tornado place fourth, qualify for match play at CC Championships GRAHAM, N.C. – Following the first round of the Conference Carolinas Championships, the King University women’s golf team was in second place. The Tornado shot 339 in the second round, and finished in fourth place at 674 to qualify for match play on Monday.

    Swallow, Powell earn all-conference honors BRISTOL, Tenn. – Announced at the Sports Festival Championship Banquet and Brunch on Saturday morning, two King University golfers earned All-Conference Carolinas honors. On the women’s side, Elizabeth Swallow was named first team all-conference while Richard Powell earned second team honors on the men’s side.

The Tornado are currently in second place, only two strokes behind Mount Olive College and were led by Elizabeth Swallow’s 79.

    Tornado finish 10th at Agnes McAmis Memorial GREENVILLE, Tenn. - In the second round of the Agnes McAmis Memorial, the King University women's golf team carded a team score of 323 to finish in 10th place with a total of 651. Courtnee Young and Anna Walker led the team in the final round while Esther Gandarias finished 17th.

    Gandarias leads Tornado in first round at Agnes McAmis GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The King University women's golf team returned to action on Monday, and posted 328 in the first round of the Agnes McAmis Memorial, hosted by Tusculum College. Esther Gandarias led the Tornado, and is four shots out of first place after the first day.

Swallow placed second at both the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational and Pinehurst Challenge.

Elizabeth Swallow led the Tornado with a second place finish after shooting a 72 on the final day.
