CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wingate University hosted the 12th Annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial women's gold tournament which opened action on Monday. King College finished round one at the Olde Sycamore Golf Club led by freshman Cortnee Young's share of a top-10 finish after the first of two days of play.
Courtney Young finished the first day of the tournament with a share of 10th place with a first round score of 78, shooting a pair of 39s on both sets of nine. The Cleveland, Tenn., native is one of eight golfers tied for 10th and was among the top finishers on the back nine while leading King's team.
King rounded out the pack of 17 teams with a first-round 351 on the par-72, 5,823-yard course in Charlotte, N.C. Barry University (Fla.) has the lead after the first day of play.
Round two will begin Tuesday morning from Olde Sycamore Golf Club and conclude in the afternoon.
