GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Ashley Deans was named to the 2010-11 NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Second Team, as announced by the national office.
Deans, a senior forward from Greeneville, Tenn., averaged 16.5 points per game thanks to a .484 field-goal percentage. She also led the team at the free throw line with a .847 percentage by going 138-for-163. Deans averaged 6.3 rebounds per game with 39 steals and 35 assists during the season.
Of the 31 games she played in Deans led King in scoring 21 times. Nine times she scored 20 or more points including a season-best 26 points against Salem International (W.Va.) University on Feb. 5.
She was the NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week twice. This marks the second straight year for Deans on the NCCAA Division I All-American squad after being a first-team selection last season.
Deans helped King to a 14-18 record with a return trip to the NCCAA National Tournament and a second-straight Mid-East Region championship.
In all the first and second teams had 10 players each with another 10 honorable mentions.
