INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College's Ashley Deans moved into the Top-40 in an individual NCAA Division II Women's Basketball stat category as the newest report was released from the national office.
Deans, a senior from Greeneville, Tenn., used an 87.7 free-throw percentage to rank No. 35 among NCAA Division II players. In the first report released in December, she was No. 51. Her 15.4 points per game average was good enough for No. 119.
The Lady Tornado also ranked No. 55 in the free-throw percentage category at 72.8 so far this season, the team's highest ranking.
Derika Mooney (Athens, Tenn.) was No. 80 in assists per game and No. 89 in steals per game to give King three individual Top-100 rankings.
King will be a part of the University of District of Columbia New Year's Classic this weekend. First for the Lady Tornado will be a 6 p.m. contest against host District of Columbia Saturday followed by a 1 p.m. meeting with Washington Adventist Sunday. King's record entering the two-game weekend improved to 3-12 after a 68-56 win Monday over Brevard (N.C.) College.
