Devotie selected CoSIDA Academic All-American
BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time this year, a King University student-athlete has garnered CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Tornado softball player Hannah Devotie was selected third team All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), when the awards were announced on Wednesday.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – On Thursday the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced their Academic All-District honorees for baseball and softball and three Tornado were selected. Both Ryan Whitt and Dylan Sligh of the King baseball team earned recognition as well as Hannah Devotie of the Tornado softball team.

BURLINGTON, N.C. – With each team playing their third game of the day, third seed University of Mount Olive outlasted seventh seed King University to stay alive in the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament. The Trojans scored four runs in the first two innings and held on for the 6-3 victory.

BURLINGTON, N.C. – In another elimination game in the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament, seventh seed King University scored early and Hayley Smothers made the run standup for the Tornado against sixth seed Belmont Abbey College. King scored twice in the first inning, and Smothers shutdown the Crusaders, giving King the 2-1 victory.

Tornado hold off late NGU rally to stay alive in CC Tournament
BURLINGTON, N.C. – Playing their second games of the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament, seventh seed King University and fifth seed North Greenville University left everything on the field on Friday afternoon in an elimination game. The Tornado held a 4-1 lead only to see the Crusaders even the score in the sixth. However, King regained the lead in the seventh and then turned a double play with runners on second and third to end the game and give the Tornado the 6-5 victory.

Crusaders take pair from King in regular season finale
TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The King University softball team closed the regular season with a pair of tough Conference Carolinas losses at North Greenville University. After King evened the score at six in the top of the seventh inning in game one, the Crusaders scored in the bottom of the frame to take the contest 7-6. King again tried to comeback in the nightcap, but the Crusaders held on for the 4-3 win to jump the Tornado in the league standings.

Four King teams take Conference Carolinas Sportsmanship Awards

Men’s volleyball, men’s tennis as well as baseball and softball both earned the sportsmanship awards in their respective sport to bringing the total number of King teams to earn this award for the 2014-15 season to eight.

Eagles spoil King's return to the diamond
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team returned to the diamond on Saturday afternoon for the first time in nearly three weeks when they hosted Carson-Newman University. The Eagles set the pace in the first inning of each game en route to the doubleheader sweep. Carson-Newman took the first game 8-0 before winning the nightcap 7-1.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due to wet conditions in Bristol this week, Wednesday’s doubleheader against Lenoir-Rhyne University has been postponed. The doubledip has been rescheduled for Monday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Bristol. The postponed games from last weekend against Bluefield State College have been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m.

However, Carly White pitched the Trojans to their second tournament title in as many years while Mount Olive offense erupted for 11 runs in their 11-3 victory over the Tornado.

Thomas' blast lifts King past Limestone in extras
BURLINGTON, N.C. – The top two teams in Conference Caroilnas squared off in an elimination game on Sunday morning the conference tournament, and both pitchers were up to the task, Limestone College’s Kelly Shearer, and Hannah Light for King University. The duo combined to allow just eight combined hits, and no runs through the first seven innings. In the eighth, Fallon Thomas broke through for the Tornado, crushing a three-run home run to left field. Light made that standup in the bottom of the inning, keeping King alive in the tournament.

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The top two seeds of the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament squared off in an elimination game that turned into a pitcher’s duel on Sunday morning. Neither no. 2 Mount Olive College, nor top seed King University wanted to give in as the game went to the 10th inning with no score. The Trojans finally broke through in the 10th to take the pitcher’s duel 2-0.
