BRISTOL, Tenn. – Freshman pitcher Emma Hughes helped lead the King University softball team to a 4-2 week last week, including an upset of the 11th-ranked team in the country, earning Hughes some hardware. Hughes was selected Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week following three complete games over the week.

Hughes' week started with her first career complete game, defeating Tusculum 4-1, where she allowed one unearned run on four hits and struck out five. That was only the beginning as she defeated 11th-ranked Charleston 1-0 in her next start. In the contest, the Rogersville, Tenn., native only allowed four hits and struck out four, defeating the 2016 World Series qualifier.
