Light takes second straight CC Pitcher of the Week award

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, King University softball pitcher Hannah Light has been honored by Conference Carolinas. The senior was named the league's pitcher of the week after leading the conference-leading Tornado to a 4-2 week.

Light continued her spectacular season in the circle with a 4-1 week for King, running her overall record to 23-14. In four of her six appearances she allowed two runs or less and held opponents to less than five hits on three occasions. Her best performance came in King's 2-1 nine-inning victory over North Greenville University on April 1, when she allowed one run on three hits and struck out six in nine innings of work.

In two Sunday games against Mount Olive, the Coeburn, Va., native gave up just two runs, neither of them earned, and struck out 12 in two complete game victories. Her ERA for the week was a paltry 2.07 and totaled 28 strikeouts in her 40 and two-thirds innings of work. She now has 229 strikeouts in 257 two-thirds innings on the season. This marks the fifth time this season Light has been named the conference's pitcher of the week.

The Tornado are in action again when the take on crosstown rival Virginia Intermont College at Whitetop Park in the Stateline Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. King then closes Conference Carolinas play on Saturday and Sunday when they host Limestone College and Barton College, respectively.
