BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University softball pitcher Hannah Light turned in another solid performance last week, earning Conference Carolinas Picher of the Week honors. The senior started seven of King's eight games a week ago, posting a 4-3 record in those contests.
Light pitched 43.1 innings for the Tornado in eight games, spending all but six innings in the circle for King this week. She went 4-3 with a miniscule ERA of 1.33 and pitched a pair of shutouts, a 5-1 win over Wingate University on Wednesday at home and Kentucky Wesleyan College at the Captain D's Classic. She threw six complete games and gave up only nine earned runs on the week while compiling 38 strikeouts. She ranks fourth in the conference in ERA and strikeouts per game while leading the league in wins, strikeouts, appearances, innings, and complete games.
In the first NCAA stat rankings, Light ranks second in Division II with 141 strikeouts and 11th with 11 wins. Her four shutouts also rank seventh in the country.
King is scheduled to be in action again on Wednesday when they host Carson-Newman University at 2:00 p.m. The Tornado will then host Tusculum College on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
