COLUMBUS, Ga. - King College saw Columbus State (Ga.) University take a pair of softball games 4-1 and 8-0 Friday.
King's lone run on the day came in the sixth inning of the opener when Stephanie Mueller (Mt. Washington, Ky.) had a RBI double to drive in Aubree Hutt (Bristol, Va.).
Samantha Watts (Nashville, Tenn.) was handed the defeat in the circle as she went six innings and allowed four runs on four hits with four strikeouts. She did strike out seven Columbus State batters.
Columbus State's Jennifer Isasi picked up the victory with the one run on four hits.
Rachael Wilmoth (Morristown, Tenn.) went four innings and was tagged for seven runs on nine hits.
Erin Tyson tossed five innings for the home team with just the three hits in game two.
Kori Waugh, Kristi Bullard and Melanie Trevathan each had a pair of hits. Trevathan drove in three runs while Morgan Knight added two more RBIs while Bullard scored twice.
Most of Columbus State's damage came with a six-run fourth inning.
After the contests King went to 9-21 while Columbus State owns a 32-8 mark.
King will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader Thursday at future Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer (N.C.) University.
