USTFCCCA Individual Academic Awards

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their NCAA Division II Cross Country Individual Academic Awards and three Tornado were recognized. Tanner Cook and Charles Ramos earned honors on the men's side and Kaitlin Rivera on the women's side.

The individual All-Academic honor was awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.

Cook qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships as an individual after taking sixth at the NCAA Southeast Regional. He posted a 10k personal record of 30:41.05 at the regional and earlier in the year finished with an 8k personal best of 24:58.4. The senior has carried a 3.54 GPA while Ramos, a junior has a 3.31 GPA. Ramos set a 10k personal record with a time of 32:45.21 at the regional.

On the women's side, Rivera has a GPA of 3.93, and the freshman set a pair of personal records this season. She lowered her personal best by over a minute at the Greater Louisville Classic and the next week posted a 5k time of 19:15.4 at the Queens XC Challenge, lowering her time by 30 seconds. At the NCAA Southeast Regional, Rivera posted a 6k time of 23:15.90.
