Trio of Tornado set PRs at Royals XC Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The King University men's cross country team ran in their final tune up before the Conference Carolinas Championship on Friday when they ran in the Queens Royals XC Challenge. Tanner Cook again led the Tornado and for the second straight week set a personal record to finish 15th.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cook posted his first time under 25:00 in his career, finishing in 24:58.4 to finish 15th. He set his previous career-best last week with a time of 25:21.22.
  • James Russell Ballowe came in next, finishing within five seconds of his personal record. He covered the distance in 26:14.9 to finish 80th in the field of nearly 350 runners.
  • Coming in next was Charles Ramos who finished in a time 27:00.4.
  • Tyler Edwards smashed his personal record by 32 seconds when he posted a time of 27:22.1.
  • Also setting a personal record was Daniel Kovalchick who finished in 29:16.1.

FOR THE FOES

  • Lee University won the meet and the University of Mount Olive finished second.
  • Unattached runner James Quattlebaum won the race with a time of 23:53.4 while Mount Olive had the next finishers.

UP NEXT

  • King competes at the Conference Carolinas Championship on October 21. The race is scheduled to be run at Frank Liske Park in Concord, N.C.
