BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University men's cross country runner Tanner Cook started his season with a solid performance at the Eye Opener Invitational, which resulted in him earning Conference Carolinas Runner of the week honors. Cook was the top NCAA Division II runner at the meet, leading the Tornado to a second place finish.
In a meet that featured numerous NCAA Division I teams, Cook finished in 11th place with an 8k time of 26:23.90. That time was also first among NCAA Division II foes, coming in nearly 30 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
This marks the third Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week award in his career and first this season. He has been selected Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week each of the last three years in the opening week.
The Tornado are in action again on Saturday at the Asheville XC Carnival in Asheville, N.C.
