Cook takes 1st, Tornado 2nd among DII competition at Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University men's cross team opened the 2016 season with a great showing at the Eye Opener Invitational, finishing second among NCAA Division II teams. Tanner Cook led the way for the Tornado coming in first among NCAA Division II runners.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cook posted a time of 26:23.90 taking first by more than 30 seconds. Overall, Cook finished 11th in a meet that had numerous NCAA Division I schools.
  • Charles Ramos came in sixth with a time of 27:25.51, and James Russell Ballowe wasn't far behind, taking seventh with his time of 27:28.36.
  • Morgan Greene just missed the top 10, taking 11th with a time of 27:53.46.
  • Coming in next was Tyler Edwards who clocked a time of 27:59.93 to take 12th.
  • Daniel Kovalchick rounded out the squad with a time of 29:31.88.

FOR THE FOES

  • Lincoln Memorial University finish first among the NCAA Division II schools, narrowly topping the Tornado.
