BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following his big week, King University men's volleyball player Kiel Bell can add another award to his mantle. On Tuesday he was named Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week.
This marks the first time in his career and the first time a King men's volleyball player has earned an AVCA weekly award. Earlier in the week, Bell was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Bell had a big week for the Tornado, leading King to their second straight Conference Carolinas title. He hit a blistering .453 with 39 kills in three matches and posted two double-doubles. In three matches he averaged 3.90 kills and 3.30 digs per set for the Tornado.
He started the week with 10 kills and 14 digs in a win at Limestone College before tallying 17 kills and hitting .483 in King's win over Barton College, handing the Bulldogs their first league loss. Bell capped the week with his fourth double-double of the season, accounting for 12 kills and 11 digs in a sweep of Mount Olive.
The Tornado are in action again Tuesday when they host Lincoln Memorial University at 7:00 p.m. in the regular season finale.
