BRISTOL, Tenn. – Jon Wheaton of the King University men's volleyball team opened the season on a roll last week, leading to him being named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
The sophomore hit .400 in the week and registered 10 blocks for an average of 1.50 stuffs per set, while adding 14 kills. In the Tornado victory over Charleston (W.Va.), Wheaton hit .643, the second-best mark in match in school history. He posted 10 kills on 14 attempts with only one error, and added six block assists and one solo stuff.
Wheaton and the Tornado are back in action again on Friday when they travel to take on 11th-ranked George Mason University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
