BRISTOL, Tenn. – Former King University men's volleyball player Mason Casner recently signed a contract to play volleyball professionally in Iceland. Casner signed with Knattspyrnufelag Akureyrar (KA) in Akureyri, Iceland.
KA plays in the top men's volleyball league in Iceland and they won the Icelandic Cup for men's volleyball for the second straight year a season ago. The new season starts in the coming weeks and Casner will be a member of the 2017 KA team.
Following graduation in 2015, Casner has been training to play professionally, and traveled overseas last summer to tryout for professional teams and scouts. He was finally awarded an opportunity and will be playing in the top Icelandic league this year.
"I am proud of Mason and happy he gets a chance to play professional volleyball," King men's volleyball head coach Ryan Booher said. "His hard work and dedication has propelled him to the next level. We wish him the best of luck and know he will represent himself and King very well."
