Funk named academic all-conference for second time

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University men's volleyball player Jeremy Funk was named to the Conference Carolinas academic all-conference team by the league office on Friday afternoon.

Funk has been named to the team for the second consecutive year. He is a senior majoring in Athletic Training and carries a 3.864 cumulative GPA. He has been named to the President's List and is a six-time Dean's List member during his time at King.

In order to be eligible for academic all-conference honors, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution that have played in a conference sponsored sport. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.

Each year the academic all-conference team is released while closing out each regular season before starting the tournament championships. The Conference Carolinas 2014 men's volleyball championships will hold six qualifying tournament teams. All matches will be hosted by the highest seeded teams throughout with quarterfinal matches starting Wednesday, April 9th. Winners of quarterfinal games advance to the semifinals on Saturday, April 12th where the top two seeds received quarterfinal byes. The championship culminates in the final Saturday, April 16th.
