King Men's Volleyball drops a 3-1 decision to Erskine in the first match of a Saturday quad match. Erskine defeated the Tornado (25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 28-26). Ashton Hippenstiel led the Tornado with 15 kills followed by Matthew Harper's 10 kills in 14 attempts. Ned Parker led the team in digs(9) while freshman Matthew Lychock had 4 blocks.
The first two sets were dominated by the visiting Erskine team. The Tornado could not find a rhythm offesnively and defensively in the first two sets. Freshman setter Matthew Delong entered the 3rd set and helped change the momentum in the match. Erskine led the 3rd set until Senior Michael Koebel made a diving save to ignite the Tornado comeback. King took the 3rd set 25-22. The 4th set was a seesaw battle with the no more than a 2 point lead for either team during the set. With the sore tied at 26-26 King had two straight errors that lead to Erskine clinching the match.
Matthew Delong had 24 assist in his two sets of work. Ashton Hippenstiel and Stephen Brown added 2.5 blocks a piece that helped the Tornado to 10 blocks for the match. King drops to 7-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
