BRISTOL, Tenn. – Vincent Okot has had a memorable 2016-17 season, earning All-Southeast Region in two events in the outdoor track and field season. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their awards on Tuesday, and Okot garnered All-Region honors in both the triple jump and javelin.
Okot won the Conference Carolinas Outdoor championship in the triple jump with a mark of 15.10 meters. On Sunday, he improved on the mark, setting a new school record with a leap of 15.41, improving on his NCAA provisional mark.
In the javelin, Okot finished second at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships with a mark of 56.71 meters. That mark ranks second in the league this season and is less than two meters away from the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 58.34 meters.
