BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the third time this season, and second during the outdoor season, King University men's track and field athlete Vincent Okot has been named Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week. Over the weekend, Okot set the school record in the triple jump and finished second in the long jump at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic.
Okot broke the school record in the triple jump with a mark of 15.30 meters, breaking the previous mark of 15.16 meters that had stood since 2007. He won the even by nearly 1.0 meters as the second place finisher posted a leap of 14.44 meters .In the long jump, he was the top NCAA finisher with a mark of 6.86 meters. The top finisher was unattached, and his leap was 0.18 meters farther than the second place finisher.
The Tornado will be in action again on April 28-29 at the Conference Carolinas Championships, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.
