BRISTOL, Tenn. – In his second outdoor meet, King University track and field athlete Vincent Okot won the triple jump at the ADIDAS Winthrop Invitational, and earned recognition from Conference Carolinas. Okot was selected Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week for the first time during the outdoor season following his performance.
In an event that featured numerous NCAA Division I competitors, Okot took home a first place finish in the triple jump. In his first leap of the day he posted a mark of 14.82 meters, which stood up the rest of the day. His leap was nearly 0.5 meters farther than the second place finisher who posted a mark of 14.39 meters. Okot's closest NCAA Division II competitor posted a mark of 12.57 meters.
This marks the second time this season Okot has been named Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the week and first time during the outdoor season.
King is in action again on Friday and Saturday at the Montreat College Invitational in Montreat, N.C.
