BRISTOL, Tenn. – Vincent Okot of the King University men's track and field team had a great weekend at the Buccaneer Invitational. His NCAA Provisional qualifying long jump earned him Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Athlete of the Week.
In the triple jump, Okot posted an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 15.22 meters, coming within 0.25 meters from the automatic qualifying mark. He finished second overall and was the top NCAA Division II finisher by nearly one full meter. Okot's mark is the top triple jump in Conference Carolinas this season, 1.17 meters longer than the second place mark. In the long jump, Okot finished 10th with a leap of 6.37 meters, ranking him 10th in the league this season.
Earlier in the week, he was named Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week. He is the first Tornado to earn ECAC Field Athlete of the Week, joining James Russell Ballowe who garnered ECAC Track Athlete of the Week on January 18.
The Tornado compete in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 19.
