Seven Tornado athletes named USTFCCCA All-Region
BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the outdoor track and field season nearly complete, seven King University athletes have earned USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region honors. Three Tornado women’s athletes garnered recognition while four men earned the distinction that was headlined by Justin Newring, Brent Swiney and Maegan Henry.

Stamper and Newring lead King to fourth at conference championship
BANNER ELK, N.C. – Highlighted by Jeremy Stamper’s school-record performance in the shot put and a pair of victories by sprinter Justin Newring, the King University men’s track and field team placed fourth at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Lees-McRae College.

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The King University men’s track and field team had a solid day of competition at the Benyon Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina University in its final tune-up before the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championship on April 26.

King places 16 on academic all-conference track & field teams
BRISTOL, Tenn. – As we near the Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championships, the league has awarded their academic all-conference lists. The Tornado had 10 women that made the team and six men for a total of 16 honorees.

Swiney sets another school record at Liberty Invite
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Brent Swiney continues to set school records for the King University men’s track and field team during the outdoor season. The sophomore broke his own mark in the 800 meters this weekend at the Liberty Collegiate Invite. Six other personal records fell at the meet for the Tornado, including three for Andy Lai.

Swiney sets 1500 meter school record for second straight week
RALEIGH, N.C. – King University men’s track and field runner Brent Swiney traveled to Raleigh to run in the highly competitive 1500 meter race at the Raleigh Relays. The sophomore nearly set an NCAA provision time, finishing in 3:54.45.

Tornado place 16 on academic all-conference team
BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the conclusion of the indoor track and field season, Conference Carolinas has announced their academic all-conference teams. A total of 16 Tornado student-athletes were honored as 10 women’s and six men’s track and field athletes earned recognition.

Newring, Parker and Conference Carolinas weekly awards
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their final tune up for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championships, both Eliza Parker and Justin Newring turned in stellar performances last week at the Mountaineer Open. Parker was named Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the week, and Newring earned the same honor on the men’s side.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Justin Newring finished fourth in the 400 meter dash to improve his NCAA provisional qualifying time to headline the King University men’s track and field team in the Hilton Garden Invitational on Friday and Saturday in a meet that featured a number of NCAA Division I teams.

Tornado expectations set high for 2014
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Coming off one of the most successful season’s in program history, the King University men’s track & field team is hungry to exceed this year’s expectations. The Tornado took the Conference Carolinas Indoor championship in 2013, but came up just short in the outdoor meet leaving room for improvement in 2014.

Newring posts NCAA provisional time in season opener
BOONE, N.C. – The King University men’s track & field team started the season on a high note at the Appalachian Invitational hosted by Appalachian State University. The Tornado finished first among six non NCAA Division II teams, and Justin Newring highlighted the day as he posted a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the 200 meter dash.
