All-Region Hardware Handed Out to 13 King Track and Field Athletes

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named All-Region honorees for outdoor track & field in Division II. Thirteen different King College student-athletes were awarded All-Region honors, totaling 21 different accolades among them.

The men's team edged out the women's team by one All-Region honor, totaling 11 of the program's 21 total awards. Freshman thrower Rickey Bell (Advance, N.C.) was one of three male athletes to garner two All-Region nods, joining freshman sprinter Earl Rahming (Nassau, Bahamas) and junior distance runner Naseem Haje (Hagerstown, Md.). Also earning All-Region honors was Justin Newring (4x400m relay), Junior National qualifier Jordan Noe (3,000m steeplechase), Casey Stallard (javelin), Jordan Tippens (4x400m relay), and Reggie Warren (4x400m relay).

The women's team collected 10 All-Region honors between five team members. Freshman thrower Maegan Henry (Bluefield, Va.) led all King athletes with three All-Region awards in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. Distance runners Kendra Sokol (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Hannah Witt (Mountain City, Tenn.) each earned two All-Region accolades in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters while Tia Keitt (Dallas, Ga.) also notched two All-Region awards in the long and triple jump events. NCAA Division II National Qualifier Shelbie Burchfield also earned an All-Region honor in the women's high jump.

The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the All-Region distinction for the 2012 outdoor season.

A total of 1,274 athletes receive 1,854 USTFCCCA All-Region nods. The USTFCCCA regions match those used for NCAA Cross Country Championships.
