More NCCAA qualifiers for King Track & Field

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The King College track and field team closed out the 2011 Niswonger Invitational Saturday with another strong day of performances.

Carrie Nelson (Independence, Va.) was 13th overall in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18 minutes and 19.52 seconds. She lowered the school record. Danielle Beauvais (Danville, Va.) was second in her section of the 5,000 with a run of 18:41.15. Hannah Witt (Mountain City, Tenn.) was not far behind at the 18:48.12 mark.

Daniel Hamilton (Franklin, N.C.) qualified for the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship as he crossed the finish line at the 9:10.63 mark in the 3,000 meters. He also ran the mile in 4:39.17.

Logan Kemp (Blountville, Tenn.) obtained a NCCAA qualifying mark in the high jump with as he cleared 6-foot.

Spencer Frantom (Morristown, Tenn.) lowered his season best in the 5,000 by 43 seconds down to 15:49.98.|

The Tornado 1,600-relay team was 15th after a run of 3:27.04.

Taylor Dix (Memphis, Tenn.) needed 9:29.42 to run the 3,000.

Next for King will be the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship Feb. 19 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
