BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University men's tennis player Moritz Poswiat can add another award to his mantle as he was selected for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
In his career at King, Poswiat was selected All-Conference Carolinas three times, including being named to the all-conference doubles team this year. During his senior campaign, the Wuppertal, Germany native went 15-9 in doubles play while going 10-10 in singles play. In his career, Poswiat owns a 59-31 record in singles play and 52-40 mark in doubles competition.
"Moritz is one of the hardest-working people I know, on and off the court," head coach Mariia Ilina said. "He is always focused, determined, and resilient. He has supported and motivated his teammates throughout all of his college tennis career, leading by example and helping others in tough moments."
Poswiat was selected Conference Carolinas Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's tennis as well as earning second team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
This marks the first time a Tornado men's tennis player has earned the ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
The ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding individuals in all divisions at the regional and national level. This award which dates back to 1982, goes to NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO men's and women's players who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
