DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University men's tennis team rebounded from yesterday's loss with a Conference Carolinas win at Erskine College on Saturday. The Tornado won all six singles matches en route to the 7-2 road victory.
Pablo Vidal and Luis Delgado got King (5-7, 2-2 CC) on the board with an 8-4 win over Andre Andre and Robert Clarke at No. 2 doubles. However, Erskine (1-8, 1-3 CC) took the other doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead.
Nevertheless, the Tornado came back with a vengeance in singles play. Vidal played a tight match at No. 1 singles, splitting the first two sets at 7-5 apiece before his opponent retired with the third set even at 5-5. Rodrigo Avila and Delgado both took a three set victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Avila defeated Wilson Matthewes 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and Delgado topped Jack West 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2. Leo Brigato won 6-2, 6-1 over Andre ag No. 4 singles before Moritz Poswiat and William Boyce capped the 7-2 victory. Poswiat defeated Alan Pearce 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles, and Boyce won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Tornado will be in action again on March 18 when they host Lees-McRae at 2:00 p.m.
