BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team bounced back from a tough loss earlier in the week with a decisive 8-1 Conference Carolinas win over Belmont Abbey College on Saturday. The Tornado set the tone by winning all the doubles matches en route to the victory.
The duo of Pablo Vidal and Luis Delgado earned the first win of the day, defeating Eduardo Escobar and Damien Nelson of Belmont Abbey (1-7, 0-1 CC) 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato took a narrow 8-6 win from Conner McMann and Juan Baez at No.1 doubles, and the Tornado (4-5, 1-2 CC) took a win be default at No. 3 doubles to take a 3-0 lead.
In singles play, Avila topped Baez 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to get things rolling. Delgado followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the third flight over Escobar. Moritz Poswiat earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Nelson at No. 4 singles before William Boyce capped the win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Idris Moya at No. 5 singles.
The Tornado will be in action again tomorrow when they host Bluefield State College at 10:00 a.m., at the King Tennis Complex.
