King lost only one set between its six individual matches but Pablo Vidal (Madrid, Spain) came away with the win in the match tiebreak (6-2, 4-6, 10-2). Jose Avila (Cuernavaca, Mexico) began the singles competition with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ricky Jones before the Tornado went on a five-match win streak to sweep the singles side. Also taking away wins were Vitor Villar, Leonardo Brigato, Patrick Jones and Seth Hale. Hale defeated Wade Tugman in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) en route to his victory.
The Tornado defeated the Buffaloes handily in doubles competition, not allowing more than three points in any set. All three King tandems went on to win to sweep the doubles competition and earn a perfect 9-0 decision against Milligan.
With the win, King improves to 2-0 in the 2011-12 season. The win is their second 9-0 sweep of an opponent in just two games played. The Tornado will not play another match until Feb. 18 when they jump into Conference Carolinas play against Belmont Abbey on Feb. 19 and follow up with a match against Queens (N.C.) the next day.
Note: The Lady Tornado were schedule to play Milligan in a doubleheader but changed their match to an exhibition prior to the start of the match.
