GREENVILLE, S.C. - A perfect 6-0 week helped King College's Pablo Vidal to the NCCAA Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week award, the national office announced.
Vidal (Madrid, Spain) started with a 9-8 (7-4) doubles win with partner Oriol Mirallas against NCCAA national power North Greenville (S.C.) University at No. 2. In his No. 2 singles' match Vidal won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Saturday at Greensboro (N.C.) College he teamed with Patrick Jones for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. In his No. 2 singles' match Vidal did not lose a game winning 6-0 and 6-0. On Sunday along with Mirallas he won 8-2 in No. 2 doubles' play at Winston-Salem State (N.C.) University. In the No. 2 singles' match Vidal posted a 6-2 and 6-1 win to complete the perfect week.
His award is the fifth time a King player has won the NCCAA honor this season.
Overall the Tornado's record stands at 7-2 before Friday's 1 p.m. scheduled match at Tusculum (Tenn.) College.
