BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – In their first meet of the semester, the King University men's swimming and diving team set three personal records on Sunday when they faced Union College and Bethel University. The Tornado fell to Union 148-48, but topped Bethel 118-34.
Alek Nochowicz turned in a solid performance in the 200 yard freestyle, setting a personal record with a time of 1:56.95. Nicholas Piumelli also set a personal best time, finishing the 200 yard individual medley in 2:11.29 to better his previous mark of 2:11.77. Piumelli came in with a new personal record time of 1:02.04 in the 100 yard breast stroke.
The trio of Taylor Horton, Bryan Stroinski and Donny Vogelsong turned in a solid 50 yard freestyle race. Horton came within 0.05 seconds of his personal best with a time of 22.98 seconds. Stroinski and Vogelsong finished with times of 23.83 and 25.33 seconds, respectively.
King will be in action again at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships that take place from Thursday-Saturday in Christiansburg, Va.
