BRISTOL, Tenn. – New King University men's soccer head coach John Miglarese announced the 2013 men's soccer schedule last week, that features seven home contests.
"I am really looking forward to the 2013 season. The schedule has a great mix of strong non-conference opponents from the Peach Belt Conference and South Atlantic Conference that will allow us to measure ourselves against other conferences in our region," Miglarese said. "We also have some traditionally strong NAIA programs who are both in their provisional years of their transition to NCAA Division II."
The Tornado will open the 2013 campaign at the Lee University Tournament on September 6 and 7 where they will play both Lee University and Shorter University. King opens their home schedule with a non-conference contest with Tusculum College on September 11.
"I am also very pleased with our preseason exhibition schedule. Virginia Intermont College and Lincoln Memorial University will be good tests for us and the opportunity to play ETSU for their season opener will surely stretch our young squad," added Miglarese.
King's first Conference Carolinas contest is slated for September 21 at home against Pfeiffer University. The Tornado close the regular season with a home contest with Mount Olive College on November 2, and the Conference Carolinas Tournament begins on November 5.
"We have high expectations for next year. The boys are motivated to turn the program around and have worked very hard this spring. The team earned some good results and we played very well at times," said Miglarese. "This growth coupled with our strong recruiting class of nine players will only increase our chances for success next year. The team has bought into the values and standards I set when I arrived in January and are determined to get King back to regional and national relevance again quickly."
