BRISTOL, Tenn. – It took King only two minutes to get on the board in Saturday's non-conference match against the Milligan Buffaloes. The former AAC rival came from behind and defeated the Tornado, 2-1, on a late goal.
Josh Feener (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) scored King's lone goal at exactly the two-minute mark of the opening half. His goal came unassisted and was the junior defenseman's first of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Cameron Sauro (Owen Sound, Ontario) was tested early and after a pair of shots that sailed wide of the cage, Nimely Robertson tied the score at one with 32:14 remaining in the first half. Sauro immediately rebounded by making five saves to close out the half and registered 18 total saves by game's end.
Milligan's Chris Ochieng scored the game-winning goal at 73:58 after Sauro made four saves in less than three minutes prior to the score. Nahom Tekle was credited with the assist.
The Tornado (0-4-0) will play host to Lincoln Memorial University on Wednesday, Sept. 12 in King's first men's/women's doubleheader. The women will also play the Railsplitters with kickoff set for 2 p.m. with the men to follow tentatively at 4 p.m. Both games will be held at Parks Field with live stats and video available.
