BRISTOL, Tenn. – Robert Wilkinson started his season with a bang last month to lead the King University men's golf team. This week he was named the Division II Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Golfer of the Month.
Wikinson couldn't have started his sophomore season any better, carding a -5, 67 in the opening round of the Kiawah Island Invitational. In the round her posted a double eagle on the second hole and followed that with an eagle on the 12th hole. He finished the tournament with a 74 in the second round to finish with a score of -3, 141 and give him a fifth place finish.
The Dundas, Canada native followed that with a 157 in the Etowah Intercollegiate, shooting 80-77 to finish 31st. Wilkinson capped the month with an 18th place finish at the King University Invitational, shooting 145. He carded a 75 in the first round before shooting even par 70 in the final round to finish 18th.
For the month Wilkinson averaged 73.83 strokes per round and was the only Tornado to play in all three tournament to start the 2016-17 season.
King returns to the course on October 17-18 at the TVA Credit Union Classic at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club in Florence, Ala.
